Cantabile is a self-directed vocal ensemble based in the Pioneer Valley that specializes in a cappella performances of vocal chamber music of the European Renaissance. In addition to its love of the European Renaissance repertoire, both sacred and secular, the group has enjoyed occasional forays into other repertoire, ranging from Hildegard and Handel to Romantic part-songs and the Great American Songbook. Cantabile's concerts in the Pioneer Valley have been presented by a wide array of organizations and music series, including Arcadia Players, Mohawk Trail Concerts, Watermelon Wednesdays, and the Renaissance Center at UMass Amherst, among many others. Rehearsals and performances were suspended from March 2020 until January of 2023, when Cantabile reconvened as a sextet. Cantabile’s current members are Aidan Linden, Maki Matsui, James Mead, Peter Shea, Katrina Turner, and Nina Wurgaft.
